Open Doors Open Minds community consultation Feb 10th
After months of planning, we are about to kick off our Open Doors Open Minds community inclusion education project with a community consultation on February 10th. During the workshop people with disabilities will come together to share their stories about challenges they have faced accessing community activities, groups, and organisations. There are still a couple of places available in the consultation so if you or someone you know would like to attend please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Once the consultation is complete we will go into a 3 week rehearsal process with our cast, entirely consisting of people with disabilities, to develop an interactive inclusion training program using the model of Forum Theatre that will be delivered 10 times in 5 locations across Canberra throughout March 2018. We will hold one afternoon session, and one after hours session, in each location across Tuggeranong, Woden, City, Belconnen and Gungahlin. The intended audiences will include both people with disabilities, and volunteers, staff, or members of community groups and organisations in order to facilitate community discussion around improving accessibility. If you know any people or organisations that might like to stay informed about the Public sessions please suggest they join our mailing list here.
