Callout for PWD to participate in community consultation
Access All Areas - Health
A community education project to improve accessibility of health services in the ACT.
Do you have a story about the barriers faced by people with disabilities accessing health services in the ACT?
We want to hear it!
Rebus is a Canberra based, mixed-ability theatre company that uses the interactive model of Forum Theatre as a community education and training tool around social issues. Rebus is seeking expressions of interest from people with disabilities to participate in a half-day workshop to share stories about challenges they have faced in interacting with health services. These stories will then be used to develop an inclusion training program for staff from health services across the ACT. Health services may include services such as physiotherapy and psychology, as well as general practitioners and hospitals.
The workshop will consist of various physical activities and exercises as well as discussion, which will be adapted around the requirements of the workshop participants. Join us in this workshop and have your say about how health services in the ACT can bridge the gap between their accessibility policies and practice.
There are limited places available in this half-day workshop, which will be held on Saturday February 16 from 1pm-5pm at Belconnen Community Centre, Swanson Crt, Belconnen. Participants in the workshop will include members of the public with a disability and a cast of four actors who will be performing the scenarios, consisting entirely of people with a disability.
Each workshop participant will receive a $100 per diem for taking the time to attend.
To express your interest in participating please contact Rebus either by email via firstname.lastname@example.org or phone on 0403 815 784.
This project is funded by the National Disability Insurance Agency's 'Information, Linkages and Capacity Building' Program.
