Call for Expressions of Interest for Actorvate
Professional Training in Community Theatre Facilitation and Performance Skills
Are you interested in learning skills to devise and perform theatre with and for diverse communities?
Later this year, Rebus will begin a year-long training program in community theatre skills. Actorvate is funded by ArtsACT’s program funding and will be divided into four modules:
· Playback Theatre;
· Image Theatre and Forum Theatre;
· teaching theatre in community settings;
· designing community theatre projects.
These modules will be supplemented with weekend courses in:
· disability and theatre;
· science, environment and theatre;
· using theatre within the community.
As a final stage of the program, students will design and lead their own modest community theatre projects. We have funding for a small number of paid trainee positions, and the capacity to accept additional unpaid trainees.
Our hope is to develop an ensemble of theatre artists available to take up paid teaching and directing positions as they arise within Rebus, and who are ready to perform Playback Theatre and Forum Theatre for a variety of events. We are seeking a group that reflects the diversity of the ACT community.
Due to social distancing restrictions with COVID-19, we are not sure when we will commence classes, but we are keen to hear from people who might be interested. If you are interested, please send a brief email via our Contact Page and an application pack will be sent out to you within a few weeks.
