Callout for actors with disabilities for Access All Areas
Access All Areas is a community consultation and education project designed to improve access for people with disabilities to health, justice, and transport services in the ACT.
Rebus is seeking people with disabilities to employ as actors at professional rates on short term contracts. Successful applicants will assist in the development and delivery of theatre-based experiential workplace training programs to be rolled out over 2019 and early 2020. Experience in acting or other kinds of performance, including public-speaking is an advantage, but not essential.
These programs will use Forum Theatre, a form of interactive theatre in which members of the audience can intervene to change the outcome.
You can apply for any or all of the programs; successful applicants will be expected to draw on their own experiences of barriers to accessing services, though will not be asked to ‘play themselves’.
We hope to represent the lived experiences of a wide range of people with disabilities in this project. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disabilities, people with disabilities from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds, and people with sensory disabilities are particularly encouraged to apply.
If you are interested please download the selection criteria here and proposed dates here, and forward a CV (if applicable), and a paragraph outlining why you are interested in being part of the project to Artistic Director Robin Davidson at email@example.com. If you would prefer to express interest by phone you can ring Robin on 0403 815 784.
Expressions of interest due by COB: 4 October 2018.
Interviews with shortlisted applicants will be held in the week beginning 8 October
Practical workshops will be held on either 26 or 27 October.
Access All Areas is funded by the Federal Government through the National Disability Insurance Agency.
