I-Day Grants now open!
The ACT Government is pleased to announce the opportunity for individuals and community organisations to apply for financial support, in the form of a once-only grant to assist in a program or event for the International Day of People with Disability (I-Day) in 2019.
I-Day is held on 3 December each year. I-Day is a United Nations sanctioned day that aims to promote awareness and understanding of disability issues and encourage support for the dignity, rights and well-being of people with disability. I-Day also seeks to increase awareness of the benefits of inclusion of people with disability in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.
Projects, activities or initiatives must demonstrate how they will address one or more of the following five (5) priorities:
Create inclusive opportunities for people with disability in the Canberra community.
Showcase the skills, abilities, contributions and achievements of people with disability.
Raise awareness and understanding of disability issues, including raising awareness/prevention of domestic violence and sexual assault against women with disability.
Provide opportunities for people with and without disability to come together, share ideas and network.
Build sustainable options for people with disability to connect with their communities.
Previously funded activities include music, dance and drama performances; floristy classes & art workshops; networking events; photographic and short film exhibitions; and a range of other activities. For full guidelines find out more here.
