Meet the Board: Thanks and farewell to our outgoing Secretary Emma Gibson
Rebus wouldn't be able to do all the great work we do without the support and guidance of our volunteer board. So we thought we'd introduce you to them, one at a time to show our appreciation for all they do for us!
Emma Gibson joined the Rebus Board in May 2017. Having previously collaborated with other Board and management team members on community arts projects, she was eager to take up the opportunity to work with a wonderful group of like-minded people to support the excellent work Rebus does as a mixed ability, inclusive theatre company.
Emma is a writer, theatre-maker and poet with a focus on place-based work. Her work has been staged internationally, including in Iceland, Sweden, USA and the UK. Recent work includes Tourmaline at the Street Theatre in Canberra. Her site-specific audio tour Someplace That I Used To Know was part of Canberra's You Are Here Festival In 2017.
Emma’s previous plays include Bloodletting (Bread and Roses Theatre Award, London 2015), War Stories, Johnny Castellano is Mine (Canberra Critics Circle Award 2014), Widowbird and Love Cupboard. Her play The Pyjama Girl, was produced by Hothouse Theatre and is published by Australian Plays.
