Rebus Theatre is a Canberra-based social enterprise that provides experiential workplace training to help organisations understand the benefits of a diverse and mentally healthy workplace, and the impacts of stigma on individuals and workplace productivity.
Following our participation in 2017 inaugural Mill House Social Enterprise Accelerator, we are looking to scale-up and expand visibility of our service offerings across the Canberra region.
Our theatre company is comprised of people with and without disabilities. Drawing on the lived experiences of our members we have developed our training to cover recruitment, retention, mental health, disability and workplace cultural change.
Our training uses Forum Theatre, a tool for exploring and practising changes in individual behaviour to create respectful and equitable workplace culture. Its participatory approach highlights various possible interventions (what could be done differently), and the fact that without intervention nothing changes. This process enables people to interact with our actors to practice real-life skills that support inclusive participation in the workplace for people living with mental health and other disabilities in a respectful, entertaining and non-threatening environment.
